This private listening mixer was held on Saturday, June 23rd at The Hollow Studios, in Silverspring, where Minko is the lead audio engineer. The party included a private listening of pre-release tracks from the EP, complemented by insight Minko shared on the records, and their significance.

The Ethos.
The project titled “Executive Dysfunction At The Function” is an EP comprising songs Minko. recorded between 2022 and 2024. The sound is a blend of melodic rap, singing, alt-R&B,
garage/breakbeat, afro, chanson francaise & alt-soul. It explores responses to mental health &
coping mechanisms through the various songs on there.
This project holds deep personal significance, as Minko's relationship with mental health profoundly influences his songwriting process. It aims to contribute to destigmatizing and healing experiences for those struggling with neurodivergence in isolation.
It breaks down as such:
1. Outside (Mood: Intimate UpTempo Breakbeat)→ Response to depression.
2. Skedaddle (Mood: Escapist Bounce)→ Response feeling of alienation vis a vis state of
the world.
3. No Rush (Mood: Intimate)→ Response to loneliness induced depression
4. Strawberry Sorbet (Mood: Warm Mellow Groove)→ Response to anxiety.
5. Olympia (Mood: Mellow Groove, Vibey, Empowering) → Response to anxiety connected to fear of failure, socio-familial guilt & abandonment issues.
6. Mental (Mood: Celebratory)→ Response to low self-esteem and depression.
7. More Of Us (Mood: Celebratory. Warm)→ Response to depression rooted in abandonment issues, fear of loss, socio-familial guilt.

As a top 3 finalist for a Wammie (Washington Music Award) in the "Best Music Video" category, Ya Minko has established himself as a versatile artist, producer, and mixing engineer.
His journey from his international Gabonese upbringing living in Gabon, France & Nigeria to becoming head engineer at "The Hollow Studio" in Silverspring, Maryland, reflects his dedication to musical craftsmanship and innovation that resonates with a rich tapestry of cultural influences and personal experiences.
Minko.'s artistic journey is deeply rooted in his Gabonese heritage and his commitment to destigmatizing mental health issues, drawing from his own experiences with ADHD, depression, anxiety and executive dysfunction. Through his journey as a compassion advocate, immigrant audio-engineer, creative director, and multi-genre artist/songwriter he continues to explore boundaries in music production, blending genres and cultures to create resonant, soulful and thoughtful music.
